what's on the tube?
i have a theory about what's happening here.
1) notice how leonardo (blue bandanas) is knocked down, defeated (and possibly bleeding to death). notice how the purple figure has odd markings on his lower face. notice the indistinct gray object at his side.
i believe this to be based on the final battle scene on the rooftops in the first live-action ninja turtles movie, in which shredder removes his mask to reveal the scars given to him by splinter years before. moments before, shredder has defeated leonardo, pinned him to the ground and threatened his life.
2) bebop and rocksteady are erroneously included, as they never appeared in a live-action film.

cowabunga, a pizza truck!
according to this journal entry, i took a turn toward inactivity, moving from "played" ninja turtles to "watched" ninja turtles. apparently, however, i didn't watch closely enough to wrap my head around the ins and outs of shredder's costume.

this illustration is unique in that i actually know exactly which episode of the cartoon it's based on. thanks to a burger king promotion, my family owned a VHS tape of "sky turtles," in which gravity is reversed, causing buildings to break apart and float away (pictured), so the turtle boys were forced to take to their personal blimp.
thanks to the VHS tape, making ninja turtles available 24 hours a day, i experienced more viewings of "sky turtles" (along with the BK promo where KidVid walks off the drafting table) than any other episode.

continuing ninja turtle week:

there's a lot going on here, much of it indiscernible, but among the recognizable artifacts are: bebop, nun-chucks and skateboards.

record keeping
thanks to my kindergarten teacher's fine penmanship, i'm now able to report that this drawing was made when i was exactly five years, ten months, and twenty-one days old.

and yes, they DID wear colored bandannas on their knees and elbows.
